How to read a PA State ID
On the ID card, locate the DOB or Date of Birth.
Subtract the year of birth from the current year. [ 2023 – 2007 = 16 ] If it is less than 21, they are not old enough to buy a tobacco or vape product.
If it is 21, make sure the current month and day is after those listed in the DOB or date of birth.
A state Junior ID card will have a RED bar on the that lists the day that the card holder will turn 21. If that day has not occurred yet, they are not old enough to buy a tobacco or vape product.
If the date in the RED bar has already occurred the person is 21 and may purchase a tobacco or vape product.
